New Buses Are Here!
What’s 245 feet long, pink, and ready to roll? The seven 35-foot buses now on The COMET’s lot. The last of our first order of New Flyer vehicles just rolled onto the lot and our mechanics, vinyl wrappers, and inspectors are busy getting these vehicles ready for service. We are thankful for the 15 years of service we got out of the old Blue Birds—the white buses that look like school buses most people see on the road each day. They were the first buses this agency ever bought after becoming a regional transit authority and while they have served us well, they have also served us for too long.
We have 8 more propane buses arriving this week and more New Flyer big buses coming in May and June. We expect to have all the Blue Birds out of service by Independence Day 2017.
