The COMET ANNOUNCE NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS OFFICERS

Columbia, SC – On July 26, 2018, the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority Board of Directors voted in new Board officers. Ron Anderson, the Vice President of Administration for Collier International is the new Chairman of the Board, representing the City of Columbia.  John Furgess, retired postmaster is the Vice Chair, representing the Richland County Legislative Delegation.  Dr. Robert Morris, former educator and is the Treasurer, representing the Richland County Legislative Delegation and Forest Acres Finance Director and Assistant City Administrator, Andy Smith is the Secretary, representing City of Forest Acres.  Each officer will serve a two-year term as board officers.

Additionally, Anderson was re-appointed to another three-year term by the City of Columbia and Mayor Bobby Horton of the City of West Columbia was appointed by West Columbia to serve as an advisory member on The COMET Board of Directors

About The COMET

The COMET is a service of the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority and provides countywide public transit services on 35 fixed routes, two ReFlex services and DART ADA complementary paratransit service throughout Richland and western Lexington Counties. The COMET transports approximately 2.8 million passenger trips a year on a fleet of 81 buses and vans. Transit services are provided under contract with Transdev Service, Inc of Lombard, Illinois.
